Renold Chain Troubleshooter

Application	Chain drive used on a barrelling machine.
Failure mode	Corrosion.
Diagnosis	This chain has been used in an environment with water contamination. The chain has not been regularly lubricated and external parts have been gradually corroded until the rollers seized. The chain has then proceeded to wear heavily on the rollers.
Solution	Protect from water if possible. Increase degree of maintenance lubrication.
